Overview of CAC/PIV
The Common Access Card (CAC) / Personal Identify Verification (PIV) Authentication Solution (herein referred to as ‘CAC/PIV) can be installed and configured on the RICOH SLNX v3.241+ platform.
Once the CAC/PIV software is installed on the MFP, a user can authenticate at the device by inserting their authentication card into a card reader installed on the device. If authentication is successful, the user is granted access to configured device functions.
This authentication technology enables System Administrators to control access to specific device functionality. For example, access to the Scan function can be limited to only authorized individuals, while at the same time, the copier function can be unrestricted and open to all users. With full control over device access by function, the MFP and CAC Scan Application (installed on the MFP) work in concert to address each department’s specific information security requirements.
SLNX_Embedded_CAC distribution files are included with the Streamline NX installer files. The zip file is located in the Embedded Files folder of the installer:
SLNX_Embedded_CAC_PIV_x.xxx.x.x.zip
After unzipping the file, ensure you select the correct installer package for the cards you using.
Because installer files names contain version numbers, all version numbers are replaced with x’s in this documentation.
